Greenfield Yogurts was established in 2017 and is located in the Blackwater Valley region of Killavullen in North Cork. Our cows graze the lush green fields of our farm and we pride ourselves on the fact that our yogurt is made entirely from the milk from our cows, with no added sweeteners, thickeners or preservatives.
On the family dairy farm we made yogurt from the milk for a number of years as we always felt it benefited our immunity and aided our digestion.
When we decided to start making yogurt, we wanted a yogurt that was high in probiotics, so we decided to use 5 strains of live yogurt cultures with additional lactobacilus Lactis and Bifidobacterium Lactis. We wanted a yogurt that was 100% natural and aided digestion and the immune system. Greenfield Yogurts contains a 7 billion cfu's per pot. This means that there are 7 billion good bacteria forming colonies in each pot. These good bacteria can greatly help with the immune system and also aiding digestion and reducing bloat. It does this by improving our gut flora and restoring a natural healthy balance to our stomach.
When looking at probiotic yogurt drinks, many of us will immediately think of Actimel or Yakult. These yogurt drinks however, contain a lot of sugar and maltodextrin which is a starch that will be turned into sugar very quickly by your body. In terms of their good bacteria levels, Yakult and Actimel say that they have similar good bacteria per bottle to Greenfield Yogurts natural yogurt pot. However we don’t have any added sugar, milk powder, dextrose, or any artificial sweeteners.
